Course Progression

Carrabassett Valley Academy is more than a ski and snowboard academy.

Innovative Learning

CVA offers a fully accredited, college-preparatory education that fosters academic excellence alongside athletic achievement. With small class sizes and a variety of academic pathways, students benefit from a thoughtfully crafted curriculum and an innovative approach to learning in a safe and supportive environment.

Exceptional Faculty

Our exceptional faculty guide student-athletes through a program that can be as academically challenging as they choose. From standard college preparatory classes to honors courses and early college options, CVA provides the opportunity to stretch, grow, and discover new strengths. Each student is encouraged to challenge themselves, achieve their academic best, and prepare for future success.

Summer School Options

CVA offers summer school courses for high school students who want to lighten their academic load during the busy winter months. Covering material taught during championship season, these classes reduce assignments for students while they are traveling and competing. This added flexibility helps student-athletes maintain balance between their academics and athletics.

Flexible Course Progression

CVA offers both a standard and a rigorous college preparatory course progression. Students can choose their path by subject, tailoring their academic experience to their individual strengths and goals. They may take all rigorous courses or select just a few, and can enhance their studies through honors and early college options. Through CVA’s Early College program, select courses are approved as 100-level classes in the University of Maine system. These credits transfer to any University of Maine campus and are widely accepted at other colleges and universities, giving students a valuable head start on their academic journey.
