H. King Cummings

H. King Cummings is one of Carrabassett Valley Academy’s most influential and visionary founders. Those fortunate enough to have known King were witness to his generosity, caring, and commitment to young people. He helped found, fund, and direct CVA through its earliest years, and his spirit is alive today in the actions and commitment of people in the CVA community who help advance the school’s mission.
King Cummings was an adventurer and an optimist. In the early days of CVA, King was always there to provide support, and was one of the most significant people in the founding years of CVA. Like the school’s other founders, he believed in the concept of CVA and was passionate about young people fulfilling their potential. King had a way of making you want to do your best and he believed that you would. He knew that an academy like CVA would enrich the Carrabassett Valley community.
Under King's stewardship, confidence, and cheerleading, the Academy flourished from a dream to reality. King would be so proud of CVA's achievements and progress. -Jean Luce
