At CVA, strong writing skills are built intentionally, year by year, across disciplines, and with purpose. Through close collaboration between the English and History faculty, CVA’s Humanities Department has developed a cohesive, research-based writing curriculum that spans from seventh grade through graduation.
Monday, February 2, marked one of the most meaningful traditions in the Carrabassett Valley Academy calendar: its annual involvement with Special Olympics Maine. For more than 40 years, CVA students have had the privilege of supporting this incredible event, a tradition rooted in service, teamwork, and shared joy on snow.

The Carrabassett Valley Academy community extends its heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Jeffrey “Berger” Rosenberg, who passed away on January 13, 2026. Jeff was a deeply respected and much-loved presence in the Carrabassett Valley, and his loss is felt throughout the mountain community.

At CVA, STEM education is immersive, challenging, and rooted in real-world application. From middle school labs to advanced, college-level science courses, students learn by doing: asking questions, testing ideas, and developing the critical thinking skills needed for success beyond CVA.
Exciting progress continues on Carrabassett Valley Academy’s High Performance Center, as the project enters its final stage of construction and the space truly begins to come to life.
From international venues to home-turf competitions, CVA athletes continue to deliver standout performances across ski cross, freestyle moguls, snowboard, freeski, and alpine racing. Competing against deep and talented fields, Big Dogs posted podium finishes, personal bests, and breakthrough results, demonstrating both the depth of the programs and the strength of athlete development across all disciplines.
Just before the holiday break, CVA welcomed Dr. Crawford C. Campbell to campus for an engaging and informative presentation with students in grades 10–12. A two-time CVA parent alum and longtime Sugarloafer, Dr. Campbell shared his medical expertise to help students better understand the science of addiction and how substances affect the brain and body.
