  • Academy Alpine U14-FIS Coach

    General Information:

    Job Title: Alpine Coach
    Location: Carrabassett Valley, Maine
    Employee Status: Full-time
    Classification: Salary with benefits

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Must be able to pass and secure a U.S. Ski & Snowboard background check.
    • CPR/First Aid certification
    • SafeSport certification

    Job Summary:

    Carrabassett Valley Academy has openings within our full-time alpine coaching staff for 2025-2026. Based on the growth and momentum of our alpine program, we have positions within our U14 through FIS staff. The ideal candidate’s qualities include enthusiasm, a love of working with young athletes, a desire for personal growth as a coach, and the ability to connect with athletes. Compensation is competitive with housing possible. Coaches receive a Sugarloaf ski pass and other CVA employee benefits. Applicants must be able to pass and secure a U.S. Ski & Snowboard background check, CPR/First Aid certification, Safesport, etc. This is a great opportunity for a coach who wishes to develop professionally and is looking for mentoring to become the best coach you can be! 

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Coaching men and/or women U14 through FIS Alpine athletes
    • Training with athletes 5-6 days a week
    • Providing video analysis of athletes
    • Goal setting for each athlete
    • Planning and managing athlete training & travel
    • Budgeting and reconciling financial costs 
    • Traveling for one week, or more, at a time required

    Other Duties:

    • Perform the requisite number of weekday and weekend dormitory duties required of all faculty and staff 
    • Tap into a student’s passion for skiing, love of the outdoors, and willingness to work hard to help each athlete achieve his/her/their personal best

    Compensation and Benefits:

    Job Summary:
    Carrabassett Valley Academy (CVA) is a private ski and snowboard academy for grades 7 through post-graduate, located at the base of Sugarloaf Mountain in Carrabassett Valley, Maine. This is a full-time role for an Assistant Director of Enrollment and Marketing. The Assistant Director will be responsible for day-to-day tasks related to social media, student recruiting, and enrollment management. A successful candidate will enjoy growing professionally in an environment that thrives on collaboration, community, and a love of the outdoors.     Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
    • Demonstrate the ability to think both strategically and tactically. 
    • Support the execution of Enrollment and Marketing on strategies to increase visibility, improve retention, and drive enrollment. 
    • Participate in all aspects of the admissions process, from inquiry to acceptance, ensuring an applicant family-centered experience. 
    • Strengthen current partnerships and collaborate with the Director of Enrollment and Marketing to explore new partnership opportunities. 
    • Assist the Director of Enrollment and Marketing with the planning and execution of on and off campus recruiting events. 
    • Partner with the Director of Enrollment and Marketing to protect, grow, and enhance the CVA brand. Communicate and ensure adherence to Brand style and media guidelines. 
    • Stay abreast of current and leading admissions practices and marketing trends including professional development opportunities and peer outreach. 
    • Develop, communicate, and execute strategic marketing plans for social media based on Enrollment and Marketing strategies. 
    • Be comfortable with filming and editing short form video. 
    • Collaborate with internal and external teams to create engaging social media content. 
    • Actively manage and engage with social media communities, responding to comments and messages.
    • Monitor and analyze social media performance. Use data-driven insights to adjust strategies and achieve growth goals.

    Job Summary:
    Carrabassett Valley Academy (CVA) seeks a dedicated teacher for its Academic Success Program (ASP) for the 2024-25 school year. ASP offers individualized services and resources to support students' academic success beyond regular classroom instruction. This part-time position involves tutoring middle and high school students in various subjects, with an emphasis on academic growth.
     
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Provide academic support during designated hours.
    • Assist students with homework, offering clear explanations of concepts.
    • Monitor and evaluate students’ progress, providing feedback and suggestions for improvement.
    • Tailor teaching methods and materials to accommodate students’ unique needs and abilities.
    • Encourage and motivate students with positive reinforcement.
    • Supervise and monitor students.
    • Communicate with parents as needed.

    Job Summary
    The candidate will serve as the sports performance coach for all student-athletes at CVA full-time (late August to early June), plus some remote summer programming oversight. The ideal candidate’s qualities include enthusiasm, a love of working with young athletes, a desire for professional growth, and the ability to connect with athletes. Compensation is competitive, with housing possible. Coaches receive a Sugarloaf ski pass and other CVA employee benefits.     Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Creates, schedules, communicates, educates, and coaches strength and conditioning programs for ski and snowboard athletes from 7th grade to postgraduate level.
    • Organization and administration duties include maintenance of the high-performance facility, including instituting a cleaning and maintenance schedule for all equipment.
    • Provides supervision during the open hours of the HPC.
    • Serves as a member of the high-performance team with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. The candidate will help set goals for the program and effectively prepare and coordinate dryland schedules based on the team’s goals, requiring an ability to be flexible, organized, and multi-task. Participates in USSS HPC education and meetings.
    • Organizes and runs Skills Quest Fitness Testing with the support of the HPD. Includes data input, reporting, and utilizing this data to develop strength and conditioning goals. 
    • Educates staff and students on all aspects of high performance and implements strategies to track, encourage, and develop these skills.
    • Connect with young athletes and work collaboratively with the wellness team, parents, and staff.

    Other Duties
    • Attends seminars, conferences, and other professional development opportunities.
    • Covers shifts as part of a weekday and weekend duty team as per the contract defined.
    • Potential to serve as the “return to snow” coach if the candidate has skills/passion in this area.
    • Helps with drives to medical appointments for athletes as able.
    • Under the direction and guidance of the Academic Success Program Director, perform 3-4 hours of tutoring per week in the ASP during the academic day.
    • Performs other duties as requested.

At Home in the Carrabassett Valley

Carrabassett Valley is home to Sugarloaf Mountain, standing at 4,237 feet, making it one of Maine's tallest peaks and the largest ski area east of the Rocky Mountains. The resort offers 1,360 developed skiable acres and 176 trails, including an Olympian-designed Cross course and the only lift-serviced, above tree line skiing and riding in the East. Additionally, Carrabassett Valley boasts over 80 miles of groomed trails connecting four backcountry eco-lodges for Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, and fat tire biking, all open to the public at no charge.

In warmer weather, enjoy a round at Sugarloaf’s renowned golf course, named Maine's best by Golf Digest, or explore nearly 100 miles of mountain bike trails.  The region also offers opportunities for boating, paddling, and fishing on Flagstaff Lake, the 740-mile Northern Forest Canoe Trail, and various ponds, rivers, and streams. For hiking enthusiasts, the Appalachian Trail is just outside our door. Carrabassett Valley has something for everyone!
