    Job Summary
    Carrabassett Valley Academy is a private ski and snowboard academy for grades 7 through postgraduate, located at the base of Sugarloaf Mountain in Carrabassett Valley, Maine.
     
    We are seeking a dependable, team-oriented kitchen staff member to join our food service team. This role is essential to ensure our kitchen operates efficiently and consistently produces healthy, balanced meals for our community. The ideal candidate is flexible, hardworking, and eager to contribute to a collaborative team in a dynamic, student-centered environment that values community and a love for the outdoors.
     
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    • Prepare and serve nutritious meals three times daily for students, faculty, and staff.
    • Assist with all aspects of kitchen operations, including prep, cooking, serving, and cleanup.
    • Collaborate with the kitchen team to support daily service and special events.
    • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment.
    • Wash and sanitize dishes, cookware, utensils, and food prep areas.
    • Assist with food preparation tasks such as chopping, slicing, and portioning ingredients.
    • Receive and properly store kitchen deliveries.
    • Communicate kitchen needs and issues to supervisors.
    • Uphold food safety and sanitation standards at all times.
    • Foster a positive, respectful kitchen culture aligned with school values.
    Minimum Qualifications
    • Previous experience in a high-volume kitchen strongly preferred.
    • ServSafe certification is a plus.
    • High school diploma or GED preferred.
    • Physical ability to stand for an entire shift and lift 50 pounds.
    • Willingness to work some nights and weekends.
    • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Reliable transportation due to our remote mountain location.
    • Professional and respectful demeanor appropriate for a school setting.

    Job Summary
    Carrabassett Valley Academy seeks a dedicated teacher for its Academic Success Program (ASP) for the 2025-26 school year. ASP offers individualized services and resources to support students' academic success beyond regular classroom instruction. This part-time position involves tutoring middle and high school students in various subjects, with an emphasis on academic growth.
     
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    • Provide academic support during designated hours.
    • Assist students with homework, offering clear explanations of concepts.
    • Monitor and evaluate students’ progress, providing feedback and suggestions for improvement.
    • Tailor teaching methods and materials to accommodate students’ unique needs and abilities.
    • Encourage and motivate students with positive reinforcement.
    • Supervise and monitor students.
    • Communicate with parents as needed.
    Minimum Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree required
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in math or education is preferred.

  • Freestyle Weekend Program Manager

    General Information:
    Job Title: Freestyle Weekend Program Manager
    Location: Carrabassett Valley, Maine
    Employee Status: Part-time, 9 months
    Classification: Salary, non-exempt
     
    Job Summary:
    Carrabassett Valley Academy is seeking an experienced Freestyle Weekend Program Manager to oversee all aspects of our weekend freestyle program, including moguls, slopestyle, and rail jam development. This role is an important part of ensuring the quality of training, competition, and overall athlete experience within the weekend program.

    The manager provides leadership, structure, and technical expertise to create a successful environment for athletes, families, and staff. This position also offers professional growth through mentorship and development to help you advance as a coach and leader. Coaches receive a Sugarloaf ski pass along with CVA employee benefits. Applicants must successfully complete a U.S. Ski & Snowboard background check, CPR/First Aid certification, and SafeSport training.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Oversee event travel for both ECS and EQS teams.
    • Manage and support staff and athletes during the winter months and holiday training blocks.
    • Implement and oversee the coaching, education, and training model.
    • Work with the Academy and Sugarloaf to facilitate Bag Jump training opportunities as schedules allow.
    • Encourage participation in Academy summer camps, including Water Ramp, Bag Jump/Trampoline Camp, and Mount Hood training.
    • Run in-house events such as the Dropbox League and Junior Bump League for younger athletes with a reduced travel schedule.
    • Manage budgets, logistics, and travel connected to ECS and EQS programming.
    • Support recruiting and promotion of the program while building a strong community culture for athletes and families.
    • Recruit, oversee, and mentor staff to ensure consistency in training methods, professionalism, and athlete care.
    • Communicate weekly with families, sharing training plans, competition details, and program news.
    • Create an environment that emphasizes skill progression, competition readiness, and strong fundamentals.
    • Collaborate with the Academy Action Sports Program Director and other academy staff to align the weekend program with CVA’s mission and competitive pathway.
    • Organize team-building and social opportunities that contribute to a strong community culture.
    Minimum Qualifications:
    • US Ski & Snowboard Freestyle Coach Level 200 certification (or ability to obtain).
    • Coaching, teaching, or leadership experience in youth sports.
    • Strong knowledge of freestyle skiing disciplines (moguls, slopestyle, rail jam).
    • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities, including staff, events, and athlete needs.
    • Commitment to athlete safety, well-being, and long-term development.
    • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as competition schedule requires.
    • Must be able to pass and secure a U.S. Ski & Snowboard background check.
    • CPR/First Aid certification
    • SafeSport certification
    • Valid U.S. driver’s license

At Home in the Carrabassett Valley

Carrabassett Valley is home to Sugarloaf Mountain, standing at 4,237 feet, making it one of Maine's tallest peaks and the largest ski area east of the Rocky Mountains. The resort offers 1,360 developed skiable acres and 176 trails, including an Olympian-designed Cross course and the only lift-serviced, above tree line skiing and riding in the East. Additionally, Carrabassett Valley boasts over 80 miles of groomed trails connecting four backcountry eco-lodges for Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, and fat tire biking, all open to the public at no charge.

In warmer weather, enjoy a round at Sugarloaf’s renowned golf course, named Maine's best by Golf Digest, or explore nearly 100 miles of mountain bike trails.  The region also offers opportunities for boating, paddling, and fishing on Flagstaff Lake, the 740-mile Northern Forest Canoe Trail, and various ponds, rivers, and streams. For hiking enthusiasts, the Appalachian Trail is just outside our door. Carrabassett Valley has something for everyone!
