Campus Life

The CVA campus is situated at the base of Sugarloaf Mountain, Maine's largest ski resort, alongside the Carrabassett River, and nestled in the heart of Maine’s beautiful western mountains. During the winter months, when not training at our world-class ski and snowboard training venues, students have access to Sugarloaf's 1,360 developed, skiable acres and 650 acres of backcountry terrain.

A four-season resort destination, Carrabassett Valley Academy sits right in the middle of year-round outdoor activities from hiking the Appalachian Trail, paddling whitewater and flat water locations, or mountain biking the miles of trails networked throughout the community.

A Day in the Life of a CVA Student

Discover CVA through the eyes of a Big Dog. Each 60 second, student-produced video showcases a Day in the Life of a student-athlete. These videos are as diverse and unique as our students with a shared passion of skiing and snowboarding.

CVA Boarding Student Experience

The CVA boarding experience is unique; combining world-class training and college preparatory learning with unimpeded access to teachers, coaches, facilities, and friends that make an impact. Boarding at CVA goes beyond the classroom or hill - it is the formation of character, living as a true member of the community, and embracing differences while sharing the love of skiing and riding.

Students who board at CVA share communal meals with fellow students and staff, reside in either double or single-occupancy rooms, and participate in either independent or monitored study hall each evening. Residents have 24-hour access to an adult at all times, whether it is the dorm parents who reside on each floor or duty staff who remain on campus on weekends.

A combination of caring supervision and personal responsibility in students' daily lives allows CVA Big Dogs to develop into independent thinkers and leaders of tomorrow.

CVA Day Student Experience

Day students integrate completely into the CVA community - training, studying, leading, eating, and recreating alongside our boarding Big Dogs.

Each athlete has a day room in the Capricorn to store equipment and get ready for a morning of skiing and riding. After training, day students eat meals alongside boarding students, coaches, and staff in the dining
hall. After classes, day students can tune their equipment in the tuning room, complete dryland training in the Anti-Gravity Center, and participate in social clubs, study hall, and leadership development opportunities.

The strength of the CVA community relies on the inclusion of every Big Dog, and we welcome the full participation of all our students.
