International Students

Where CVA student-athletes are from

The international program at CVA prides itself on supporting international student-athletes to achieve their skiing and snowboarding dreams, right here at Sugarloaf Mountain.

English Language Learners Program

The innovative English Language Learners Program develops competence in all four areas of language acquisition - listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Support within and outside of the classroom may include one-on-one tutoring, customized enhancements to classroom material, digital learning, and vacation home-stay arrangements.

Our snow sport programs provide additional opportunities for language practice and cultural immersion through extensive team travel.

International students may pursue math and science at an advanced level while being sheltered in English and other reading and writing-intensive courses until their English language skills are more fully developed.

Preparation and guidance in the process of applying to American colleges is available to more advanced students. There is an additional fee for this program.

International Student Application Fee

The international application fee is US $250.  Payment may be made by MasterCard, Visa, check, money order or may be wired.

Canadian Visa is also required

Our teams often travel to or through Canada to compete thus we require that an international student also obtains the appropriate Canadian Visa.  Apply here

Medical Insurance

All CVA students are required to have a comprehensive injury and sickness plan that is accepted by local providers and practitioners. Medical insurance issued from a country outside of the United States may not provide complete coverage in the United States. Be sure to check with your family’s health insurance provider to see if they will cover your student when out of your home country. If you need to purchase insurance, CVA recommends the most comprehensive plan offered by Global Benefits Group. Visit this site for more information and to sign up Contact if you have any questions.

Natacha Doust P '23

Francois, our French-speaking Belgian son, a very good skier in France, chose CVA to improve his skiing skills with top level coaches while learning English.  The experience was successful! Everything was very positive! He was part of a community and happy! He has become bilingual, the lessons are of a very high standard and he has done very well in his alpine skiing competitions.  It was a very difficult year with COVID but thanks to the respect of sanitary rules and the vigilance of teachers and coaches, students had face-to-face lessons throughout the year.  This allowed them to achieve a very high academic level, which is exceptional for this year!  Thanks again to CVA!  We strongly recommend this school at all levels!
Please contact me to request wiring instructions or for any other questions at or 207-237-4466. I look forward to working with you.
