Fall Sports: Big Dogs Back in Action!

Fall is in full swing at CVA, and our student-athletes are showing incredible energy, skill, and team spirit across the board! From the soccer field to the mountain bike trails, the Big Dogs are back in action and making their mark in competitive sports this season.
After a long hiatus from competitive play, CVA soccer has made an exciting return! The Big Dogs kicked off their comeback earlier this trimester with a spirited matchup against Hebron Academy, followed by two action-packed games against Gould Academy’s JV team and Mt. Abram Regional High School.

In the season opener at Hebron, the girls joined forces for a lively mixed scrimmage while the boys battled hard for the win. The momentum carried into the next match against Gould, where CVA came out firing—scoring two goals in the opening minute and ultimately securing a commanding 4–1 victory. Then came a thrilling showdown with Mt. Abram, where the Big Dogs powered through a back-and-forth game to claim a dramatic 4–3 win. Fueled by teamwork, determination, and an amazing crowd cheering from the sidelines, CVA showed just how strong their new program has become.

Meanwhile, the CVA Mountain Bike Team has been on fire this fall, bringing home podium finishes and showing incredible skill, grit, and sportsmanship across a packed race schedule. From Mt. Abram to Camden, Sugarloaf, and Titcomb, our Big Dogs have powered up every climb and charged through each downhill section with energy and determination, earning well-deserved hardware along the way.

At the Mt. Abram Enduro, CVA riders set the tone early with standout performances from Abby Manson ’26 (2nd, Women’s A), Anders Hildebrand ’28 (2nd, Men’s B), Jack Hepburn ’26 (3rd, Men’s B), Frankie Bruno ’30 (2nd, Men’s C), and Coel Bayles ’29 (3rd, Men’s C). The momentum carried into the Camden cross-country race, where Claire Thomson ’29 (2nd, Women’s C) and Anders Hildebrand '28 (3rd, Men’s C) continued to shine.

CVA athletes made history at the first-ever Sugarloaf Fall Enduro Classic, where the U18 boys swept the entire podium: Tristan Healey ’26 (1st), Lorenzo Warren WP (2nd), and Luke Holman ’29 (3rd), showcasing the depth of talent and teamwork across the program.

The team wrapped up their recent stretch of competition at the Titcomb XC Race, where Big Dogs again landed on the podium: Curtis Dohan ’29 (3rd, Class B Boys), Anders Hildebrand ’28 (1st, Class C Boys), and Claire Thomson ’29 (3rd, Class C Girls). From Enduro to XC, the CVA Mountain Bike Team continues to exemplify what it means to compete with heart—racing with confidence, camaraderie, and true Big Dog spirit.

Whether scoring goals on the soccer field or powering through challenging trails on their mountain bikes, CVA athletes are demonstrating determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship at every turn. Congratulations to all our teams on a fantastic start to the season. Go, Dogs, Go!
