Fall Family & Homecoming Weekend
CVA was thrilled to welcome the families of our student-athletes back to campus for Fall Family Weekend, held in conjunction with Sugarloaf’s Homecoming Weekend, October 10–12.
The weekend offered families a special opportunity to reconnect, meet teachers and coaches, and share in the CVA experience. It was also a well-earned break for everyone, a chance to pause, celebrate the progress made so far, and look ahead to the exciting winter season. With the fall foliage at its peak, our Big Dogs were out in force around the mountain, taking full advantage of everything this unique community has to offer.
Friday evening’s Annual Harvest Dinner brought together students, families, teachers, coaches, and staff for a delicious multi-course meal prepared by our talented kitchen team. Friday and Saturday, teachers and coaches held conferences with visiting parents, while CVA once again partnered with The Rack and Sugarloaf for the annual Ski Swap & Sale in The Rack parking lot.
In the Narrow Gauge Room of the Base Lodge, CVA hosted an information table, sharing details about the academy, handing out stickers and CVA swag, and promoting the PSO’s annual wreath sale. The Environmental Club collected winter clothing and gear donations for local schools and charities, while the CVA Campus Captains for The Hidden Opponent were on hand to raise awareness about mental wellness. Meanwhile, members of the National Honor Society added to the festive atmosphere by hosting a bake sale and fundraiser near the library.
The Parent Support Organization capped off the weekend by hosting its annual celebration at Bigelow Station. A Big Dog thank you to Phoebe Folger for once again opening her home to the CVA community for this event!
Taking part in these community traditions, both on and off campus, strengthens our students’ connection to Sugarloaf, Carrabassett Valley, and one another. Through these shared experiences, they learn the values of responsibility, generosity, kindness, and inclusion, qualities that help them grow into well-rounded, confident young adults ready to achieve their goals.
