CVA celebrates students who exemplify the values at the heart of our community: kindness, respect, commitment, and gratitude. The Student Spotlight Award recipients embody these ideals through their dedication, leadership, and willingness to support others, both on and off campus. This month’s honorees represent excellence in the classroom, on the hill, and throughout the CVA community.
February Middle School Student of the Month: Niaya Gaudet
Niaya has demonstrated a strong commitment to her studies and a thoughtful approach to learning. In Social Studies, she recently earned a perfect score on a major project and followed it with an excellent test result, reflecting both preparation and attention to detail. Her work in science also stands out, with one of the strongest lab reports in the class, and she continues to perform well in English, consistently producing high-quality work across disciplines.
Beyond academics, Niaya contributes positively to the classroom environment by treating others with kindness and respect. She approaches her work with focus and gives her full effort in everything she does. Her consistency, strong work ethic, and positive attitude make her a great example of the values that define the CVA community.
February High School Student of the Month: Fynn Murray
Fynn has distinguished herself through hard work and determination across her academic program. She is performing exceptionally well in English and brings the same focus and dedication to all of her classes. Teachers note her consistent effort and willingness to put in the work necessary to succeed.
In addition to her academic commitments, Fynn demonstrates perseverance and resilience in all that she takes on, approaching challenges with the same discipline she brings to the classroom. Her determination and positive attitude reflect CVA’s core value of commitment and exemplify the mindset of a strong student-athlete.
February Community Member of the Month: Trenton Wadas
Trenton has made a meaningful impact on campus through his willingness to help wherever it is needed. Throughout the winter, he has regularly stepped in to assist the maintenance team during snowstorms, helping with shoveling and other tasks that keep the campus running smoothly.
Trenton also takes the time to point out maintenance issues around campus, helping ensure that small problems are addressed before they become bigger ones. His initiative and awareness show respect for the shared spaces that make up the CVA community. Through these simple but important actions, Trenton demonstrates gratitude and a genuine commitment to supporting those around him.
February Middle School Athlete of the Month: Henry Sapak
Henry has been on an impressive run of results this season, consistently delivering strong performances on the race course. He recently earned a third-place podium finish at Gunstock in a race that included many out-of-state teams, demonstrating his ability to compete successfully against a deep field.
Henry has also dominated many of the in-state races this season, regularly finishing at the top of the standings. His success reflects not only strong technical skiing but also his commitment and competitive drive, which continue to propel his development as a racer.
February High School Athlete of the Month: Ryan Velenchik
Ryan continues to push his mogul skiing to new levels through dedicated training and perseverance. This winter, he successfully landed his first Lincoln Loop in competition, an important milestone that reflects the hard work he has put in since last summer and his continued technical progression.
Beyond this accomplishment, Ryan has been skiing exceptionally well overall, showing increasing confidence and control in his runs. His commitment to training and willingness to challenge himself exemplify the determination required to progress at a high level in freestyle moguls.
Carrabassett Valley Academy congratulates Niaya, Fynn, Trenton, Ryan, and Henry on this well-deserved recognition. Each of these students demonstrates the character and dedication that define the CVA community—whether through academic effort, athletic achievement, or acts of service that support those around them. Their commitment to growth and to one another continues to strengthen the culture of kindness, respect, commitment, and gratitude that makes CVA such a special place.
