Mike Phelan

Mike grew up in Rhode Island, so ski racing did not come easy for him. Due to his passion for the sport , he joined a ski team in Rhode Island at a very young age. His team travelled all over the tri-state region of New England, racing and training. His efforts paid off, as he was accepted to Waterville Valley Academy his senior year of high school. Mike continued racing at the collegiate level, and, even after a serious injury, he refused to give up. His love of the sport sparked a desire to pursue coaching. He returned to his roots in New England, coaching Ski Cross for the CVA Weekend Program. He was promoted to Ski Cross Head Coach and again to Program Manager, this year, bringing  his total time with CVA to 8 years. Mike has coached CVA athletes to as far as the World Cup level, a testament to his passion for sport and his coaching abilities.
