Head Freeski/Park Coach and Assistant Freestyle Coaches 

Carrabassett Valley Academy (CVA) located at Sugarloaf, ME seeks applicants for Head Freeski/Park Coach and Assistant Freestyle Coaches that will fill the Mogul, Freeski/Park and Freeride/IFSA assistant coaching positions. Year-round and seasonal positions with housing and benefits available. CVA, a United States Ski and Snowboard Gold Certified Club, 2016 Club of the Year and High Performance Center, enjoys a strong relationship with Sugarloaf mountain and a 35+ year reputation of excellence in academics, athletics and citizenship. Academic Tutors

Carrabassett Valley Academy is seeking academic tutors to provide support for students in need of extra help in a variety of middle school and high school level courses. Backcountry Skiing Program Assistant Coach

The distinguished CVA Backcountry Skiing Program is seeking an Assistant Coach for the 2019/2020 school year and ski season. Our program is an industry leader in backcountry skiing education for the high school population. We offer targeted programming and coaching in ski touring, ski mountaineering, avalanche education, wilderness medicine, and ski camping and expeditions. Our team travels locally, nationally, and internationally to a wide variety of mountain ranges and ski terrain, while training daily in the Sugarloaf area. With access to the amazing resources of our US Ski and Snowboard Gold Club certification, and our distinction as a US Ski and Snowboard High Performance Center, our program is also able to offer the same high level training that is utilized by our competitive alpine and freestyle athletes.

The Assistant Coach will operate under the direction of the Program Director and Head Coach to provide a high level of ski coaching in the off-piste downhill and backcountry areas. Additionally, the Assistant Coach will help with trip logistics and execution, mentorship of our team athletes in athletic, academic, and social areas, and coaching during dryland and off-season training.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • An ability to work with and relate to teenagers on a daily basis
  • A strong background in off-piste or backcountry skiing
  • Documented experience in off-piste skiing, outdoor education, and working with the teenage populationA Wilderness First Aid (or better) certification
  • At least a Level 1 Avalanche Course from an American Avalanche Association recognized provider. (Level 2 or Pro 1 preferred).
  • Formal Ski or Climbing guide training through American Mountain Guides Association is preferred.



  • Wage/Salary will be dependent on individual and available resources
  • On-campus housing is available
