Backcountry Team Travels to Washington's Cascade Range

The Backcountry Team recently returned from a two-week trip to Washington’s Cascade Range. This trip was the culmination of months of training and incorporated elements of avalanche education, ski mountaineering, team building, and off-the-grid living.
The home base for the trip was the unique Bavarian village of Leavenworth, which not only is home to great schnitzel, but also provides unparalleled access to Stevens Pass Resort and its periphery backcountry terrain.

While the trip was chock-full of memorable moments, the 4 days that the team spent at the Alpine Lakes High Camps was the trip highlight. The backcountry cabins where they stayed are nestled deep in the mountains on the edge of the Federally-designated Alpine Lakes Wilderness Area and are among the first places where legendary mountaineers like Fred Becky cut their teeth. The group was ecstatic to be surrounded by so many like-minded skiers, such deep snow, and such limitless terrain.
