CVA Snowboard PROGRAM

2016 USSA Snowboard Club of the Year

More than 20 years ago, CVA was the first academy to develop a program specifically for snowboarders. As snowboarding has continued to evolve, so too has the CVA Snowboard Program. CVA is one of the leading snowboard academies, and in the 2013 season 95% of our riders qualified for the USASA National Championships. Our student-athletes graced the presence of more than 30 podiums and were present at most of the major competitions in the US, including boardercross, halfpipe and slopestyle at USASA National Championships.

Among our distinguished graduates is Seth Wescott, a two-time Olympic Gold medalist. Seth splits his time between the Valley and his home in British Columbia, and remains very active in the Sugarloaf and CVA community.

PROGRAM DIRECTOR, Todd Johnson

Mike

Todd Johnson enters the role of CVA Snowboard Program Director for the 2018/19 season.

Many familiar with the CVA Snowboard program will recognize Todd’s name, having spent several years previously as a coach at the Academy. Since then, Todd has expanded his coaching experience as Head Coach with Team Utah Snowboarding, Head Coach of the Belgium Paralympic Snowboard Team, and more recently as the Head Snowboard Coach at Hebron Academy in Maine. Todd is also a U.S. Army veteran and USSA/USASA Level 300 coach.

Todd began his coaching career under the guidance and mentorship of former CVA Snowboard Program Director, Mike Mallon. He has also worked closely with outgoing Director, Alex Tuttle over the past few years. Todd shares both Mike’s and Alex’s coaching philosophy on long-term athlete development and personal growth. His focus for his inaugural season as Program Director is to create a seemless transition for all snowboard and ski cross athletes, so they may continue focusing on their goals and continued athletic success.
