Coaches

 

Nate McKenzie, Freestyle Program Director 

NateNate McKenzie founded the Freeski program at CVA in 1999. Since then he has coached 6 athletes to the X Games and remains head coach to the longest running and best freeski program in the country.  A graduate of the UMF ski industries program, Nate sits on the board for eastern freestyle and is the freeride spokesperson for that organization. His qualifications include Level I US Gymnastics, Level III USSA moguls, and level IV USSA Aerials. 

 

Jesse Duncan, Head Freeride Coach 

JesseJesse has been a Park and Pipe coach at CVA since 2005. He is a certified level 200 USSA Freestyle coach. In the off-season, Jesse works as a hunting guide, and enjoys outdoor activities. He lives in New Sharon, Maine with his wife and son. 

 

Casey Davis, Freestyle Coach

Casey graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder with a BA in Communication and Leadership Studies. While at CU she was a member of the Freeskiing Team and was the team’s Terrain Park Liaison. Casey reached her own ski success as a park and street style athlete competing on the Dew Tour circuit. She is excited to bring her passion for freeskiing and outdoor leadership education to the Academy and Weekend Program this season.

 

Keegan Kilbride, Head Freeski Coach

A native of Portland, ME Keegan began skiing at Sugarloaf at an early age. He participated in the CVA Freestyle Weekend Program and graduated from the Academy in 2014. As a junior Keegan competed at the FIS, NorAm, and World Junior level in slopestyle. He later earned Dew Tour podiums and X Games starts.

His film career breakthrough came in 2016 when he submitted a last-minute entry to Level 1’s SuperUnknown contest—which annually recognizes under-the-radar skiers—and won. This earned him a spot on the Level 1 athlete roster and a trip to Moscow to film a street segment for their newest film, Habit, as well as the coveted opening segment. His smooth style and deep bag of tricks scored him Breakthrough Performer of the Year at the 18th Annual Powder Awards in December. (credit Powder Magazine)
