ALEX TUTTLE ’09, Snowboard and Ski Cross Program Director


Alex, an alumnus of CVA from the graduating class of 2009, officially joined the CVA Snowboard coaching staff in 2015. 

During his years at CVA, Alex competed in half pipe, slopestyle, slalom, giant slalom, and boardercross. As a two-time All-American and scholar athlete, Alex was named to the Pac Sun All-American Team, two Junior World Championship Teams, and eventually the U.S. Snowboarding Team, in 2011. Most recently, Alex has been putting his years of training to work as a member of the U.S. Snowboarding Team, competing internationally in boardercross. 

Throughout his racing career, Alex competed along side the sports greats such as Seth Wescott, Nate Holland, and Pierre Vaultier. His World Cup profile contains nine top 20 finishes, including a second place finish in Valmalenco Italy, a third place finish in the U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix at Canyons in Utah, and a second place finish at the 2014 X-Games in Aspen Colorado. At the pinnacle of competition, Alex was ranked 12th overall for the 2012-13 World Cup, and contended for an Olympic Team nomination in 2014. He is a level 200 coach, currently working toward his level 300 certification. 


Michael Goldschmidt, Head Elite Coach

Michael "Goldy" Goldschmidt joins CVA for the 2017/18 season as Head Coach for our Elite Snowboard Team. Goldy is a graduate of Stratton Mountain School, where he attended from grades 7 - 12. During his time at SMS his riding excelled, and he quickly progressed through the ranks, competing at high level events such as the Grand Prix, Junior Worlds, Dew Tour, World Cup, and X-Games. 

Goldy also competed as a member of the U.S. Snowboard halfpipe team for three years. Following his graduation, he moved to Lake Tahoe, pursuing his dreams and snowboarding career. As his years of actively competing came to a close, he enrolled at Sierra Nevada College. In addition to snowboarding Goldy enjoys rock climbing, golf, camping and hiking. Goldy's competitive experience and passion for the sport will be great assets as the Head Elite Snowboard Coach. 



Kim As a former coach for CVA’s Weekend Program for two years, instructor for Sugarloaf’s ski/snowboard school for five years, and certified personal trainer, Colin Mello brings a combination of training skills and a love of competitive snowboarding to CVA’s Development Snowboard Cross Team. He holds a BS in special and secondary education with a minor in physical health and a certification in personal training from the University of Maine Farmington, where he also served as captain of the baseball team. Before joining CVA he was a teacher’s assistant and JV baseball coach at Lake Region High School. Collin’s experience as a personal trainer and certified educator will help the Development Snowboard Cross Team seamlessly blend on-hill training, fitness training, and academics.
