CVA Snowboard PROGRAM

More than 20 years ago, CVA was the first academy to develop a program specifically for snowboarders. As snowboarding has continued to evolve, so too has the CVA Snowboard Program. CVA is one of the leading snowboard academies, and in the 2013 season 95% of our riders qualified for the USASA National Championships. Our student-athletes graced the presence of more than 30 podiums and were present at most of the major competitions in the US, including boardercross, halfpipe and slopestyle at USASA National Championships.

Among our distinguished graduates is Seth Wescott, a two-time Olympic Gold medalist. Seth lives in Carrabassett Valley and is very active in the Sugarloaf community.

PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Mike

Alex Tuttle, an alumnus of CVA from the graduating class of 2009, officially joined the CVA Snowboard coaching staff in 2015.

During his years at CVA, Alex competed in half pipe, slopestyle, slalom, giant slalom, and boardercross. As a two-time All-American and scholar athlete, Alex was named to the Pac Sun All-American Team, two Junior World Championship Teams, and eventually the U.S. Snowboarding Team, in 2011. Most recently, Alex has been putting his years of training to work as a member of the U.S. Snowboarding Team, competing internationally in boardercross.

Throughout his racing career, Alex competed along side the sports greats such as Seth Wescott, Nate Holland, and Pierre Vaultier. His World Cup profile contains nine top 20 finishes, including a second place finish in Valmalenco Italy, a third place finish in the U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix at Canyons in Utah, and a second place finish at the 2014 X-Games in Aspen Colorado. At the pinnacle of competition, Alex was ranked 12th overall for the 2012-13 World Cup, and contended for an Olympic Team nomination in 2014. He is a level 200 coach.
