Nate McKenzie, Freestyle Program Director
Freestyle Program Director, Nathan Mckenzie is entering his 11th year with Carrabassett Valley Academy. After attending the UMF ski industries program Nathan founded the Freeride program at CVA 8 years ago. Since then he has coached 6 athletes to the X Games and remains head coach to the longest running and best freeride program in the country. Nathan sits on the board for eastern freestyle and is the freeride spokesperson for that organization. His qualifications include Level I US Gymnastics, Level III USSA moguls, and level III USSA Aerials.
Aaron Solomon, Head Mogul Coach
Aaron Solomon coached at CVA in the 90’s for five years, and now enters his third season back as Head Mogul Coach. Aaron is a 200 Level USSA Mogul coach, a USSA Judge, and NASM Certified Personal Trainer. He holds a degree in Business Management from University of Maine at Orono and is also studying to become a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (C.S.C.S.).
Jake Payson '06, Head Park & Pipe Coach
Jake, a 2006 CVA gradtuate, joins us as our Head Park and Pipe Coach. He holds a BA in humanities with a concentration in Psychology from Sierra Nevada College in North Lake Tahoe. Jake started coaching in 2006 with a little mountain called Diamond Peak located on the Nevada side of Tahoe. In 2010 Jake was given the opportunity to coach at a professional and international level, teaming up with Planet Ski International's pro team and coached Dew Tour, Grand Prix, and Northface Open athletes. After a successful season, getting to stand atop the X-games course and also getting one of his athletes on the Canadian National team, he is back and excited to begin a new chapter with CVA.
Jesse has been a Park and Pipe coach at CVA since 2005. He is a certified level 100 USSA Freestyle coach. In the off-season, Jesse works as a hunting guide, and enjoys outdoor activities. He lives in New Sharon, Maine with his wife and son.
