Why CVA

CVA is a private middle/ high school  at Sugarloaf Mountain in Maine, offering a unique balance of college preparatory academics and competitive ski and snowboard training. We recently received the 2016 USSA Club of the Year award.

Our founders believed that if you supported a student’s passion for skiing or snowboarding then all parts of their lives: academic, athletic, and community, will improve.

We continue the beliefs of our founders today by creating a learning experience that...

  • builds self-confidence and independence
  • teaches students time management and the skills to be academically prepared to excel at a high level
  • supports them as they learn to advocate for themselves and gain knowledge that fosters leadership abilities.

As one of the country's first ski and snowboard academies, we have learned that there is more to a person than what they know and what they can do… they must be good citizens of the world. That is why gratitude, civility, respect and commitment are woven into every aspect of the CVA experience.
