October 23rd

Hello Freestyle Parents:

I want to take a few moments to welcome many new families to our program.  We have had a successful fall registration period capped by a great ski sale at the AGC.  I had the chance to talk to several new families and their young athletes and answer lots of questions.  We are looking forward to a great season ahead, and here is a chance for me to remind you of some upcoming events and to convey some important information about our program..

It is time to get everything you need for the ski season. Below you will find information that will prepare you to be on snow.

Our LL Bean uniform link is below. You will find all the available uniforms on this page. Our CVA mogul jackets are also an option for the older male and female athletes in the program.

This season our relationship with DownHill Supply Company will be even stronger. Jared and Steve have a full list of equipment that I have suggested for our freestyle athletes. After you are registered for the WP you may purchase equipment at 30% off. If you need any help with equipment please contact Jared Decenta or Nathan Mckenzie.

**November 29th  will be the first day of the weekend program for the 2014 -2015 season**. Please sign up today online and look for updates in our newsletter as the day gets closer. Our calendar above has all of our WP events.

Dear Freestyle Weekend Program Families,

Welcome to the 2014-2015 season!  It may only be October, but winter is just around the corner as it’s really feeling like fall in Carrabassett Valley.  I hope everyone had an exciting spring and summer and are looking forward to the season.  This new web page is the spot for all the happenings so be sure to bookmark this page.  We will still be sending email reminders linking you to this page when there is important information. We will try to keep content here fresh, so check back often.

Upcoming dates:

Homecoming is October 11-13.  The CVA Equipment Sale is a great way to “rehome” your old equipment or pick up something for yourself. What better way to get in the winter mood than attending New England’s best snowsports swap?  Please look at the full schedule of events for all the goings-on during the weekend.  Yes, the donut truck will be around.

Message from the CVA Business Office:

Beginning September 1, 2014, all payments for the CVA Weekend Program will be processed through the new CVA Payment Portal.  The link to the portal is also located on the CVA website homepage as well as on the CVA Weekend Program registration page.

Please be aware that the published price for the CVA Weekend Program is a cash discounted price for payment by eChecks (ACH). Credit card payments are at a non-discounted price (2.75% above the discounted price).

This year there is only one price for all participants: $1,475. A preseason price of $1,400 is available for payments made on or before Monday, October 13, 2014. At that time, all payments revert to the regular price of $1,475. Please make sure you process your payment promptly this year if you wish to take advantage of the discount as there will be no exceptions made after October 13th. Registration is available on the CVA website.

If you have any questions, concerns, or problems with the portal, please contact CVA’s business office:  Sue Howe, 207-237-4459, or Steve Sitz, 207-237-4460,

Registration for the Trampoline Club

The Trampoline Club is intended to be an exclusive opportunity for athletes to extend their weekend training from the mountain during the day to the Anti-gravity Center. Our coaches will be instructing Weekend Program athletes on various upright and inverted aerial maneuvers with an emphasis on safety and air awareness.  This dry land training method is expected to translate to improved balance and confidence when performing on hill.  The 2014-2015 Trampoline Club meets Saturdays (2:00pm-4:00pm), beginning December 13th and running through March 21st.  The total cost of the sessions, in addition to the CVA Weekend Program, is $420.00. (14 spots available) For more information contact Nathan Mckenzie 207. 441. 4759  This is an amazing opportunity for CVA weekend athletes to have additional freestyle training in a world-class trampoline facility.

Look for these changes:

We have added some additional CVA Fridays as opportunities to train with the CVA athletes and coaches and develop more  skills for competition.  There is an additional fee for these days.  The dates are below and trgistration can be found on the site.

January 16th,30th

February 6th,13th, 27th

August 22, 2014

We have expanded our water ramp training dates to include a weekend for our Weekend Program athletes who are 10 and older. This summer a few athletes explored this training opportunity and had great success.

Here are the details:

  • We would depart from CVA on September 12 at 10am and ramp the 13th and 14th.
  • We would need to create a ride share for the return on the 14th because I will be staying in Lake Placid for a CVA team training camp.
  • The cost is estimated to be $320 for lodging, the ride over, meals, and coaching. This is an estimate. Final cost will be determined once we know the number of participants
  • All athletes will need a wet suit, life jacket, mouth guard, 2 pairs of skis, old boots, helmet, sneakers, and a towel.
  • MOST important is your USSA membership renewal.

Please contact me before August 29th if you would like to reserve a spot.

Check out our Facebook page for shots of Colin, Parker, Alex, Johnny, David, and Ben, some of our WP athletes that have stepped up to the ramps.

Also their parents are great supporters of the training and are great a resource for parent concerns and questions.
