Resources for Families Beyond CVA’s Financial Aid Program
- The Maine Community Foundation is a resource for scholarships. Their website is www.mainecf.org.
- Education loans are available through Sallie Mae; www/salliemae.com,1-888-2-Sallie. Also check with your local lending institutions.
- Towns and community organizations such as Kiwanis and the Rotary are places to inquire about merit scholarships
- Many families contact other family members and churches for assistance. Some have held spaghetti dinners in their towns and sold tickets to raise money.
- “Your Tuition Solution” offers loans for tuition; yts-learning.com
We suggest families work with a financial advisor who can be very helpful in not only assisting with organizing resources but offering advice about tax planning, positioning of assets and liabilities, and other strategies to assist in paying for high school and college. We are happy to speak with your advisor to familiarize him/her with the FACTS methodology.
