Financial Need: CVA awards financial aid based on financial need. Need is defined as the difference between the cost of a CVA tuition and what a family can afford to pay as determined by the SSS formula.
Priorities: Consideration for financial aid dollars is given below. Funds will not be reserved for families whose paperwork is received late.
- Applications from current students who have completed all necessary requirements on time.
- New applications from candidates accepted by the Admissions Committee.
- New and Renewal applications from new applicants or current students after the deadlines. Applicants will be notified as to the availability of funds.
Financial Aid Cycle: All awards are reconsidered annually and all paperwork must be completed each year. Once a student has been granted financial aid, his/her parents may assume that the aid will continue unless there are reasons for a reevaluation by CVA. CVA reserves the right to reevaluate an award based on an improved financial situation or a student's unsatisfactory record of achievement or attitude.
Divided Families: Determining the financial need of students from separated or divorced families is derived from the underlying principle on which we base financial aid for all of our students. We believe that both parents have an obligation to pay the educational expenses of their children to the extent that they are able. Remarriage of either parent creates a new family unit, but it is still the responsibility of the biological (or adoptive) parents to provide financial support for a student's education.
Interview: A financial interview is not a requirement for recipients of financial aid. However, we encourage a family to schedule a meeting with a Director of Admissions if there are specific questions to be answered.
Awards: Financial aid is awarded in the form of scholarships
Unusual circumstances: If you experience a situation where your financial situation changes, please notify the Admissions Office. You will be asked to follow the Appeals Procedure and your situation will be reevaluated by the Financial Aid Committee.
Appeals Procedure: If you have questions about your financial aid award, you should feel free to contact the Admissions Office to discuss your situation or unusual circumstance. CVA requests that you write a letter stating the situation and this information will be submitted back to the Financial Aid Committee for consideration.
