Big Mountain at CVA, Alpine Leadership Pursuits for Skiers and Riders (ALPS), combines the college-preparatory academics of CVA with the teaching of outdoor skills critical to big mountain skiing and riding on the mountains of Maine and regions around the globe. Our bi-annual destinations have included France, British Columbia, New Zealand, Mexico, and Chile for one-month periods of travel, providing total cultural immersion.
The ALPS program uses physical and educational expeditions to tap the potential of students. Students develop as leaders skilled in communication, problem solving, and teamwork. ALPS student-athletes acquire self-confidence and deepen their sense of responsibility. Their personal limits are discovered and surpassed. ALPS student-athletes become outdoor explorers, critical thinkers, and seasoned leaders.
