There are many ways to make a difference. Please consider a gift to the New Campus Campaign through one of the following funds:
Edward E Ford Matching Challenge
CVA has been awarded a challenge grant from the Edward E Ford Foundation. The $50,000 grant has been awarded to support the construction and completion of six faculty residences within the new dormitory.
In order to receive the grant CVA must raise $100,000 in new gifts by July 1, 2008. We have already raised $85,000.
“We have dedicated significant resources into creating comfortable and appealing dorm-parent residences because we believe that faculty, staff and their families living amongst the boarding population enhances the students’ living and learning experience. We also believe that the new apartments will improve the school’s ability to attract and retain qualified faculty and staff,” said John Ritzo, Headmaster.
Edward E. Ford established the foundation in 1957 to support independent secondary education in the United States.
“This challenge grant is a great boost as we near the end of the Campaign. It gives donors the opportunity to significantly increase the impact of their new gifts in the coming months,” said Kate Punderson, Director of Development. The Clem Begin Campaign
The New Campus Campaign Committee is seeking to raise $75,000 in honor of Clem Begin. With the help of a $25,000 matching challenge we have already raised $52,700.
Clem is a member of the CVA Board of Trustees and has lived in Carrabassett Valley for over 30 years. He is a retired contractor and developer who currently owns and manages over 150 rental units, all of which he developed and built. He is a successful business man with a commitment to the growth and development of Carrabassett Valley. He sees CVA as playing a very important role in this scheme and has dedicated countless hours of his time to bringing the Anti-Gravity Center and the new CVA dormitory to realization.
Throughout the new dormitory project Clem served as a volunteer clerk of the works. Clem did everything from seeking bids, to negotiating contracts, to purchasing, designing and hammering nails. He and Linwood Doble built the fireplace, he built the pump house, he installed toilet partitions…the list goes on. Clem is responsible for saving the school over $1,000,000 in construction costs through his hard work and determination in the building process.
This is our opportunity to thank Clem for his generosity and enthusiasm. Thank you very much for considering a gift. If you have any questions please contact Kate Punderson at 207-237-4470 or kpunderson@gocva.com.
