CVA's Alpine program emphasizes goal setting, hard work, and healthy living as the building blocks of success. Alumni include U.S. Ski Team Alpine members: Bode Miller '96, Kirsten Clark '95, and Forest Carey '94.
Athletes in our program develop skills and a work ethic that serve them well in their athletics, and in all other areas of their lives after they leave CVA.
CVA Alpine racers train on one of the only F.I.S. homologated Downhill courses in the East. Daily training on Sugarloaf’s Narrow Gauge trail, where the U.S. Alpine National Championships were held in ’71, ’06 and ’08, and on Competition Hill, the site of the World Junior Alpine Slalom Championship prepares CVA’s alpine racers for any track in the world.
When not on the mountain CVA's Alpine team gets bigger, stronger and faster during sport-specific dryland sessions on the trampolines, in the weight room or, aerobics room, or on the gym floor of our athletic facility, the Antigravity Complex (AGC).
Athletes in the Alpine program work hard year-round to achieve the level of fitness that is essential to their success on the hill. In addition to participation on the regular CVA fall and spring sports teams, we have a standard program of dryland conditioning with a special emphasis on integrated functional training, agility, and anaerobic training. Summer on-snow training camps in New Zealand and Mt. Hood, plus a fall ski camp in Europe round out the training program.
