Mike Mallon, Snowboard Program Director 

Mike

Mike Mallon is CVA’s Snowboard program director. Under Coach Mallon’s guidance, his programs have been recognized as program of the year 3 times by the United States of American Ski and Snowboard Association. Coach Mallon served on the USSA board of diretors for six years and was the president of the USASA executive board for four years, and in 2002 was named Domestic Coach of the Year. 

Prior to joining Carrabassett Valley Academy Mallon served as Snowboard Program Director at Stratton Mountain School in Vermont, Head Snowboard Coach at Holderness School in New Hampshire, and Snowboard Program Director at Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club in Colorado. 

 

Will Rivera, Head Elite Coach

Will comes to CVA from the Vail Ski and Snowboard Club where he was the Elite team coach. For the previous five years he was the head travel coach for Mount Snow Academy. Will has worked with some of the top riders in the US Revolution Tour, Grand Prix, USASA Nationals and is a fixture on the contest scene around the globe.  As the recent Director of Snowboard at Camp Woodward he brings his vast trampoline and air awareness experience.  He is a level 200 USSA/USASA coach.

 

Benjamin Bisson '09, HEAD Development COACH

Benjamin, an alumnus of CVA from the class of 2009, has joined the coaching staff as head development coach. During his time at CVA he competed in the US Snowboarding Revolution Tour, Sprint Grand Prix, USASA Nationals, and Billabong World Junior Pro. He was a CVA Elite Team member and on the USASA All American Snowboard Team. After graduating from CVA he attended Westmont College Santa Barbara where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in studio art. He has worked as waterfront director for Chop Point Camp for many summers where he certified and oversaw all lifeguards, staff and campers. He has also worked as a certified Wilderness First Aid Trip Leader tasked with leading wilderness hiking and canoeing trips into wilderness areas of New England. Most recently, he has been using his knowledge of marketing, social media, and Internet SEO as a real estate sales agent & marketing/web manager at Bisson Real Estate.  

Alex Tuttle ’09, Head Boardercross Coach

Alex, an alumnus of CVA from the graduating class of 2009, officially joined the CVA Snowboard coaching staff in 2015. 

During his years at CVA, Alex competed in half pipe, slopestyle, slalom, giant slalom, and boardercross. As a two-time All-American and scholar athlete, Alex was named to the Pac Sun All-American Team, two Junior World Championship Teams, and eventually the U.S. Snowboarding Team, in 2011. Most recently, Alex has been putting his years of training to work as a member of the U.S. Snowboarding Team, competing internationally in boardercross. 

Throughout his racing career, Alex competed along side the sports greats such as Seth Wescott, Nate Holland, and Pierre Vaultier. His World Cup profile contains nine top 20 finishes, including a second place finish in Valmalenco Italy, a third place finish in the U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix at Canyons in Utah, and a second place finish at the 2014 X-Games in Aspen Colorado. At the pinnacle of competition, Alex was ranked 12th overall for the 2012-13 World Cup, and contended for an Olympic Team nomination in 2014. He is a level 200 coach.
