Scott Cushing is returning to SCVA this year as the Head U12/10 Coach. He has over 35 years coaching experience. Scott graduate from the University of New Hampshire. Scott was a member of the All East Ski Team and raced in the Can-Am Series. In 1973-74 he coached at Cannon Mtn, in Franconia NH. Scott spend the next few years coaching for Lost Valley in Auburn Me. and the Camden Snow Bowl in Camden Me. He has 20 years at Sugarloaf (S/CVA) under his belt. Scott has worked with athlete’s of all age levels. For the past 2 years he has been coaching the former J5’s. He is strongly committed to teaching the fundamentals and skills appropriate for the younger racer’s. He is focused on helping to establish the basic skills necessary to advance the athlete as a skier and racer. And lastly, he maintains the importance, that everything that is accomplished must be done by having FUN!
Cheryl Rowland has been a dedicated SCVA Alpine Coach for the past nine seasons. Her coaching experience spans thirteen years, eleven of which have been with SCVA and Winter Camps. Out of those 11 years at SCVA she has spent nine working with the former J3 age group. Cheryl has a USSA Level 200 Alpine Coach certification and competed for four years on the Division 1 Bates College Alpine Ski Team. She also holds an MBA from the University of South Alabama. Her enthusiasm and passion for skiing and ski racing is exemplified by maximizing each athlete’s improvement and developing their full potential. Cheryl is looking forward to another winter coaching at Sugarloaf.
Jeff Beauregard is entering his 10th year as a coach for SCVA and is returning as the Head U18/U21 Coach. Jeff began skiing at a very young age but played hockey until he was 12. A couple of friends from the Jay Peak Ski Club talked him into ski racing when he was J-4, and he fell in love with racing. Jeff continued racing through J-2‘s, High School and College. At Champlain College he was a member of the 1995/96 NJCAA National Championship team. Jeff taught and coached at Jay Peak after college and also worked on Race Crew at Vail/Beaver Creek, Colorado in 1996/97. Two of Jeff’s sons are CVA graduates, twins Patrick and Christian class of 2011. Both continue to ski race in college. Matthew is also an Alpine Racer and member of the CVA class of 2013. Jeff’s wife Ragan is the French teacher at CVA.
